That's A Wrap!

If I could name for you some of my top favorite and most inspirational designers, one of them would most definitely be Diane von Furstenberg. She is a great role model for all women out there creating a career based off her passion and making her own path as a very powerful woman. To revolutionize the fashion world by inventing something simple, classy, and that the everyday woman can wear, the wrap dress has become a classic staple thanks to DvF.

For this dress, I wanted to feature pops of leather tones to balance out the mod print of the dress. The bag and earrings are Louis Vuitton, and the heels are Aldo.

Cat eye glasses are a must have for vintage lovers and can complete the whole look.

"Confidence. If you have it, you can make anything look good." ~Diane von Furstenberg

Embellished In Coral

I have a strong passion for feeling glamorous. I'm not a materialistic person, though I love to feel my very best. My favorite way of feeling glamorous is to experiment with different eras. Like my last post, I am very inspired by the roaring 20's.

This dress from Quiz Clothing is one of the most beautiful dresses I have seen. It's so intricately detailed with it's sequined embellishments and it's scalloped hem. The coral color is perfect for the summer. If you are headed to a Gatsby themed party this would be absolutely perfect for you! The link to this beauty is: http://www.quizclothing.co.uk/clothes/00100002841.html.

The secret to finding the perfect jeweled up headpiece is to just simply use a necklace. This pearl headband (really a necklace) is from Charming Charlie, jewelry heaven for fashion lovers.

These shoes were actually given to me by my great grandmother. I am honored to be in possession of almost half of her wardrobe from the 20's of when she used to dance. These shoes were custom made for her in Italy and they are practically in mint condition. She inspires me everyday, especially when it comes to this style.

"I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn't any privacy.”

At last, I finally accomplished my Gatsby inspired post. My gloves and bag are antique along with the pearl headpiece. My dress that looks vintage itself is from H&M. My love for Old Hollywood grows everyday as I find more pieces to work with. I am so inspired by silent films and reading old issues of vogue on http://www.vogue.com/archive. I really recommend signing up for it. You will find issues from every era back to 1892. You can be just as inspired as I am while looking at original pieces and extravagant clothing that used to be worn.

My earrings and roman numeral ring are from Tiffany & Co. and the rest of the jewelry is vintage, besides the James Avery charm bracelet.

My look was inspired by Carey Mulligan and her stunning 20's looks from The Great Gatsby, one of my favorite films that depicts one of the best times in history.

Here are some edits I did to match the era:

Somewhere In Time

One of my favorite styles is mixing business with day wear to night wear. My blazer is from Zara and my blouse is from Express. My tapestry bag was a great $8.00 find from an antique store. My shoes are also vintage, given to me by my great grandmother. These Chanel glasses are easily the best bargain I've ever had, coming to a total of one dollar at a thrift store. You can wear this look to work with some slacks or a pencil skirt, then change into shorts to go out!

Orange Is The New Black

My new obsession is long sleeved mini dresses. Particularly authentic vintage ones. Where did this darling piece come from? Why the most extraordinary vintage store I have ever been to, Dolly Python. Dallas natives are very familiar with this store, of course. But still being new here I recently discovered it. They have everything from antique records, furniture, treasures of any kind, to jewelry, hats, shoes, and most importantly, vintage clothing. There is something for everyone. My dress is one of a kind, but that's the beauty of finding things like it. If you ever have the chance to visit Dallas, Dolly Python better be at the top of your to do list. You will find so many fascinating things. Check out their website http://dollypythonvintage.com/ and like them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dolly-Python/42629630395?sk=wall. I had a great time doing a shoot in this dress and I wanted to bring the true era of it to life. Here's the turn out:

Scarlett Starlet

As a big fan of old Hollywood glamour, I love anything with a vintage glam vibe. This dress is by Jessica Mcclintock, one of my favorite dress designers. I found it at a thrift store and tailored it to fit me. The thing about this style dress, it can be used for many different purposes, whether it be an elegant ball, holiday event, or even prom. I'm not one to encourage buying a piece and blowing a ton of money on it just to wear it once. Why not make it's legacy as a beautiful gown go on?

All my jewelry pieces are vintage and found at flea markets. I prefer thrift stores over flea markets, but when I go I enjoy negotiating and bargaining with people on their prices. Like my mom always said, "it doesn't hurt to ask". My inspiration for this look is from the one and only, Scarlett O'Hara, character from Gone With The Wind, my all time favorite movie. If you have seen this classical film, you may remember Scarlett showing up to Ashley's birthday party decked out in her red velvet gown. Ever since then I promised myself I would find a similar one.

Here is the original worn by the gorgeous Vivien Leigh in the movie:

Spectrum

My style seems to be somewhat consistent, in the way I gravitate towards black and white and add pops of color. My blazer is from White House Black Market and my shorts are from PacSun. This look is for a day out on the city or for a coffee shop date. I love mixing vintage with modern, combing eras to create my own style. My hologram clutch is from Little By Little, one of the cutest online boutiques, and can be found at: http://lblboutique.com/collections/bags/products/hologram-silver-clutch. My shoes are from the ever so vintage inspired online store, Pin-up Darling, and can be found at: http://www.pinupdarling.com/shes-got-it-pumps-in-mint/. I've been waiting for the day to finally own mint heels and I love the strap that goes across.
